Read on for all the new releases coming to Sky Cinema this month.
Sky Cinema new releases: What’s on in October
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy - 3rd October

Bridget Jones is back! The lovelorn diarist - still played perfectly by Renée Zellweger - returns for a fourth installment, based on Helen Fielding’s novel of the same name.
There’s still plenty of keenly observed comedy here, as Bridget and friends navigate life and love in modern-day London, but there’s also a bittersweet edge to the proceedings. Bridget’s happily ever after has been abruptly cut short by the death of her husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), leaving her to raise their two children alone.
You’ll need plenty of tissues by the end.
Code 3 - 4th October
Action comedy following a pair of overworked, underpaid paramedics over the course of one 24-hour shift. Randy (Rainn Wilson) is so exhausted that he’s quitting, but not before being tasked with taking a rookie out on a ride-along.
It Feeds - 5th October
Supernatural horror thriller about a psychic psychiatrist whose young patient claims a mysterious entity is feeding off of her. You know, standard stuff for a child therapist.
Stars Ashley Greene (Twilight) and Shawn Ashmore (X-Men).
Grow - 10th October
Family-friendly comedy about a green-thumbed little girl who enters a high-stakes pumpkin growing competition. Stars Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton) and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz).
Presence - 11th October

A haunted house thriller with a twist - all the action here is shown from the ghost’s perspective. It’s a fun idea that still manages to deliver plenty of tension and scares, and it’s all orchestrated brilliantly by director Steven Soderbergh.
Stars Lucy Liu (Kill Bill) and Chris Sullivan (The Knick).
The Stranger in My Home - 12th October
Twisty thriller based on the novel by Adele Parks. When a stranger turns up with claims that their daughter was switched at birth, a seemingly perfect family’s lives are thrown into turmoil.
Black Bag - 17th October

What’s that? Two new Steven Soderbergh movies in the same month?! This one is a bit more of a prestigious affair than Presence - a twisty, tense spy thriller starring Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett.
Fassbender plays an intelligence operative tasked with investigating a list of potential double agents… one of which happens to be his own wife. There are some excellent performances here, as you might expect, and a taut script by legend David Koepp (Jurassic Park).
Lake George - 18th October
Darkly funny neo-noir crime thriller starring Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) and Shea Whigham (Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning).
Desperate for cash, Don (Whigham) is hired by an Armenian gangster to kill his girlfriend Phyllis (Coon). But when Don finds that he can’t pull the trigger, the two team up to get their own back on the duplicitous mob boss.
Ick - 19th October
Sci-fi horror comedy starring Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) and Mena Suvari (American Beauty). A science teacher must team up with his student and ex-girlfriend to defeat the alien menace that’s invaded their small town.
Dog Man - 24th October
Credit: DOG MAN | Official Trailer (Universal Pictures, YouTube)
Animated action comedy based on the mega-popular children’s graphic novels by Dav Pilkey.
It’s weirdly similar to RoboCop in terms of setup - a super cop and his dog are almost killed in an explosion, only to be fused together to become Dog Man. Part dog, part man, all hero, as the tagline says.
Psycho Therapy - 25th October
Comedy thriller starring Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs) and Britt Lower (Severence) about a writer who consults a retired serial killer for her book about murder. Sort of a blackly comedic version of Silence of the Lambs.
Y2K - 26th October
Nostalgic horror comedy. On New Years Eve 1999, a bunch of high school kids find their night taking a deadly turn when machines rise up against humanity.
Stars Rachel Zegler (Snow White) and Julian Dennison (Hunt for the Wilderpeople).
Companion - 31st October
Credit: Companion | Official Trailer (Warner Bros., YouTube)
Sci-fi thriller starring Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) and Jack Quaid (The Boys) - just in time for Halloween!
The less known about the plot of this one going in, the better. But suffice to say it’s a twisty, turny tech thriller with plenty of humour and blood.
