Coming soon to Sky Cinema
Lights, camera, anticipation! Here’s what’s hitting Sky Cinema in the next few months.
Get ready for a new season of must-see movies! As usual Sky Cinema has an incredible line-up on the horizon, and we’ve put together a sneak peek at what to expect.
From blockbuster premieres to hidden gems, here’s your first look at the biggest and best films landing on Sky Cinema in the months ahead.
The blockbusters

Let’s start with the big ones. Comedy fans are in for a treat with the blockbuster remake/sequel of spoof classic The Naked Gun.
In this version, Liam Neeson takes over from franchise stalwart Leslie Nielsen as bumbling supercop Frank Drebin (Jr). Leaning into some of Neeson’s most famous roles, there’s a lot more action this time around, but still plenty of absurd visual gags, ridiculous wordplay and hilarious slapstick.
A particularly standout scene involves a vengeful snowman - not something you’d get from a new Taken film.
On the slightly less silly side we’ve got Jurassic World: Rebirth, the seventh(!) in the long-running dinosaur adventure franchise. Life has, it seems, once again found a way.
This one, written by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, aims to bring the series back to its roots. Quickly doing away with the dinosaurs-in-the-real-world conceit of Jurassic World: Dominion, Rebirth brings our heroes - including Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey - to yet another dino-infested island.
There’s some video-gamey mission to collect various DNA samples from the biggest, meanest beasties in the jungle, but really we’re all just here to see the dinosaurs.
Critically acclaimed & award-worthy

As awards season ramps up, Sky Cinema has a few early contenders coming our way. First up is Caught Stealing, the new film from acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky (The Whale, The Wrestler).
Marking a bit of a shift from Aronofsky’s usual, more serious, fare, this is a darkly funny crime caper, following an ex-baseball-player who runs afoul of New York’s criminal underworld while pet sitting for a neighbour.
It’s a bit of an underseen gem, garnering praise from critics for Aronofsky’s direction and the performances of its impressive cast, which includes the likes of Austin Butler (Elvis), Zoe Kravitz (The Batman) and Matt Smith (House of the Dragon).
A more traditionally awards-y choice is Nuremberg, a based-on-fact account of one US Army psychologist and his interrogation of Nazi war criminal Hermann Göring at the outset of the Nuremberg trials.
It’s a hard-hitting subject - and still sadly very relevant today - and the movie has been getting a lot of positive attention, for its prestige production and some outstanding performances from Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).
Family-friendly

Of course, Sky Cinema has the little ones covered, too! There are plenty of exciting family-friendly films coming up in the next few months.
The ever-popular Smurfs are back in… well, Smurfs - a brand new blend of animation and live action, in which the tiny blue gnomes venture into the real world to track down a kidnapped Papa Smurf.
This boasts some typically eye-poppingly colourful animation, plus an impressive ensemble cast including the likes of Rhianna (Battleship), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski), Nick Offerman (Parks & Recreation) and Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek).
The big headline in family-friendly films in the coming months is undoubtedly How to Train Your Dragon, though. This big budget live action adaptation of the animated classic proved to be just as popular as the original when it hit cinemas this summer.
Mason Thames (The Black Phone) takes on the role of Hiccup, the young viking who befriends an injured dragon against the ancestral wisdom of his people, while Gerard Butler reprises the part of Hiccup’s belligerent dad.
Expect lots of heart, lots of action and, of course, tons of dragons.
Hidden gems

It’s not all blockbusters and buzzy Oscar contenders - Sky Cinema gets a lot of smaller hidden gems, too. Movies that might have flown under the radar a bit; word-of-mouth hits or future cult classics.
A great example is Materialists, a romantic comedy drama from buzzy indie production company A24 and the writer/director of the Oscar-nominated Past Lives.
Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey) stars as a matchmaker at a prestigious New York dating agency, who finds herself torn between a charming millionaire (Pedro Pascal, Fantastic Four) and her aspiring actor ex (Chris Evans, Captain America).
On the opposite end of the movie spectrum is M3GAN 2.0, a bright, bombastic sci-fi action sequel to the cult slasher favourite.
This time around, murderous companion robot M3GAN is rebuilt to face down an even-more-murderous military android. It’s the same sort of swerve from horror to action that the Terminator franchise took - only with a sheen of bubblegum pop music and TikTok dancing.
